Overview

  • Learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of common endoscopic procedures including diagnostic gastroscopy, colonoscopy, EUS, and capsule endoscopy, with a focus on their application in patients with liver disease
  • Learners will learn to identify and differentiate between various stages of liver disease, including compensated and decompensated cirrhosis, and understand the considerations and challenges in performing endoscopic procedures in these patients
  • Learners will explore the pharmacological considerations and implications of sedation and analgesia in patients with liver disease, including the risks of drug-induced exacerbation of minimal hepatic encephalopathy
  • Learners will develop proficiency in identifying, preventing, grading, and managing adverse events associated with endoscopic procedures in patients with liver disease, with a focus on best practices and quality criteria
  • Learners will acquire in-depth knowledge of the screening, prophylaxis, and management of variceal bleeding in patients with portal hypertension, including the role of non-selective beta-blockers, endoscopic variceal ligation, and acute bleeding management strategies
  • Learners will understand the endoscopic management of anastomotic biliary strictures, ischemic cholangiopathy, primary sclerosing cholangitis, and other cholangiopathies in the context of liver transplantation and non-transplant-related settings
  • Learners will review the advanced endoscopic techniques such as EUS-guided vascular therapy, balloon tamponade, stent therapies, and endoscopic band ligation for the management of variceal bleeding and other complications associated with portal hypertension

  1. In each module, you will need to complete all the Pre Knowledge Quizzes to determine your current level of understanding. This is not counted as part of your grade for this course.
  2. After completing a Pre Knowledge Quiz you can view the main content related.
  3. After completing the main content you will unlock the Post Knowledge Quiz. You must pass this to complete the module.
  4. Once you pass all the Post Knowledge Quizzes you will need to provide some module feedback in order to unlock your Module Certificate and your CME Credits Certificate.
