A 56-years-old man is overweight (BMI 28.4 kg/m2 and waist circumference 98 cm), drinks 1 or 2 beers a day, otherwise only sodas, and smokes a few cigarettes since the age of 16. He is physically active (works in construction, goes to the gym (and uses some protein supplements) and plays football on Sunday). He eats processed foods twice a week, but on other days, his meals are freshly prepared. He goes to a burger restaurant once in 2 weeks on average. He drinks a few cups of coffee every day. He has his blood checked for an insurance, showing an ALT 37 U/L (ULN 40 U/L) and a GGT of 34 U/L (ULN 28 ULN). This is in line with a blood test 1 year ago, which was performed when he presented to the emergence department because of a work-related small trauma that did not require further intervention besides wound care).
